The GBP January Newsletter

Dear Friends and Partners,  As we reflect on all we accomplished in 2024 and look ahead to the opportunities of 2025, we are filled with both pride and excitement. The past year has been a transformative one for the Greater Brazos Region. With our rebranding to the Greater Brazos Partnership (GBP), we’ve embraced a broader mission and vision that aligns with the remarkable growth and innovation happening across our region.

This change is far more than a name change. By joining forces with the four surrounding counties, we are creating new opportunities to tell a bigger story about what this region has to offer. The Greater Brazos Region is becoming a key economic force as the epicenter of the Texas Triangle, and with your support, we are setting the stage for extraordinary growth in the years to come.

One of the defining moments of 2024 was the announcement of the new Plug and Play Aerospace & Defense Program, a collaboration with the Texas A&M University System. This was announced at the Texas A&M Innovation Forward Summit, which brought together leaders from academia, government, and industry to explore how emerging technologies are transforming industries and creating new opportunities. The launch of the Plug and Play program solidifies the region’s reputation as a hub for groundbreaking advancements and a key player in addressing national security challenges through innovation.

The semiconductor industry, a centerpiece of our economic strategy, was front and center at the Texas Semiconductor Summit in October, hosted by Texas A&M’s Semiconductor Institute. The Summit brought together over 300 leaders from industry, academia, and government with speakers from the Greater Brazos Partnership as well as Texas A&M University participating. Together, they explored how Texas—and specifically the Greater Brazos Region—can lead the way in global semiconductor manufacturing and supply chain resilience. It was a moment that underscored the critical role that our region, as the center of the Texas Triangle, plays in addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.

Our commitment to regional expansion and international outreach also yielded meaningful opportunities. In 2024, we led trade delegations to both Silicon Valley and Japan, where we strengthened ties with prominent business leaders and explored opportunities in semiconductors and technology. Later in the year, we joined the Financial Times-Nikkei Investing in America Summit 2024 in New York City, showcasing the region on a global stage. These efforts have laid the groundwork for future partnerships and investment, and we are excited about the year ahead.

As we step into 2025, we’re building on this momentum. In the first quarter of 2025, we will launch the newly redesigned website for the five-county partnership which will serve as a dynamic platform to showcase the region’s competitive advantages. The enhanced digital presence reflects the innovation and energy that is driving our work and will be an essential tool as we engage with stakeholders both here at home and around the world.

This spring, we’re thrilled to serve as a sponsor of the second annual Midway to the Future Summit, taking place April 14-15. This event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and community stakeholders here in the Greater Brazos Region to explore the growth trajectory of key industries, including aerospace & defense, semiconductors, and renewable energy. It’s an opportunity to connect, share ideas, and demonstrate why the Region, as the epicenter of the Texas Triangle, is emerging as a leader in these transformative sectors. We would love to see you there.

This is a pivotal moment for our community.

The conversations we are having with international investors and partners have made one thing clear: the world is paying attention to what’s happening in the Greater Brazos Region. The progress we’ve made is a testament to the dedication and vision of our partners and stakeholders. Together, we’re building an ecosystem where innovation thrives, businesses grow, and people succeed.

We want to thank each of you for your efforts this past year in helping to establish the tenets of a strong, innovative, and resilient economy. Whether you’ve been with us every step of the way or have just begun to engage with the Greater Brazos Partnership, your support and involvement are essential to the success of this work.
